What does it take to be Saved?

The Most important topic in the series. What does it take to be Saved? The other questions really don’t matter if this one isn’t dealt with properly.

There are really two questions here. 1. What does it mean to be Saved? Saved From What or Whom? 2. How does one Become Saved from those situations?

What does it mean to be saved? Saved from what or whom?

In Genesis, starting in Chapter 6, G-d discusses with Noah the corruption of Man and G-d tells Noah that a flood is coming and he must prepare an Ark. Then he, his wife, his three sons and their three wives should enter the ship and would be Saved from the Flood. The Flood was G-d’s wrath as he saw the wickedness of the world and G-d decided he would blot out man whom he has created from the face of the earth. But you 8 individuals can be saved from this wrath if you will just get on the ship.  After this G-d says he will never again destroy the earth with water.  Water, that is.  Could be something else, just not water.

In this instance, Saved from what or whom meant from the wrath of G-d, the Flood.  How were they able to do that? Get on the boat. Also, important to note, that Noah could not Save himself and each family member could not save themselves.  They had to rely on the Ark which was given them.

Lets look at another one.  Numbers 21:9. The exodus had occurred and the people of the Tribes of Israel had sinned against G-d, and had spoken against the Lord and asked Moses to intercede for them with the Lord and remove the serpents from them. Moses interceded and the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he shall live.” This Nehushtan is also described in 2 Kings 18:4.

We read in Verse 6 that the Lord sent the fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people, so that many of the people of Israel died.

So, Saved from what or whom meant saved from the fiery serpents which the Lord had sent.  And how were they able to do that? Look upon the Bronze Fiery Serpent on the pole. Also here we have people who realized they could not Save themselves.  They knew they couldnt and they had to believe in the Bronze Fiery Serpent that Moses had made.

To Note: this Serpent on a Pole for Healing is Used in Hospitals, Doctors offices and ambulances.  Normally on a Patch or a Sign.  Usually there are two Snakes on a Pole. With wings.  This is called a Caduceus. It is from 2600 B.C.  The Rod of Hermes comes many years later.

Now lets move to probably the most known chapter and verse in the Bible. John 3:16. “for G-d so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall have eternal life.”

Before we go there, lets back up just two verses.  “and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so the son of man shall be lifted up: 15. that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life.”

The comparison to Numbers 21:9 is right here.  Saved from what or whom? From eternal death.  How are we able to do that? Believe in the Son of Man. Need more? Ok. Lets look at the next few verses after 16. Probably some of the least known verses. 17. “For G-d did not send the Son in to the world to Judge the world, but that the world would be Saved Through Him.” 18. He who believes in Him Shall NOT be Judged. He who does not believe Has BEEN Judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of G-d.”

Now we have more Saved from what. G-d’s Judgment.  What is G-d’s Judgment? Let’s look at Revelation 20:11-15. “And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence each and heaven fled  away, an no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, and the great and the small, standing before the throne and the books were opened and another book was opened which is the book of life and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books according to their deeds. and the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them and they were judged, even one of them according to their deeds. and Death and hades were thrown in to the lake of fire. This is the second death the Lake of Fire.  And if anyone’s name was not found written the the book of life he was thrown int0 the lake of fire.

So, Saved from what or whom.  Not a flood with water as Noah had in his day, but the Lake Of Fire. G-d’s judgment which is the second death the eternal death. Here obviously, the individuals must realize that they cannot save themselves and that to overcome the situation they must believe in Jesus whom had overcome the same situation.

Get on the Boat, Look upon the Bronze serpent, believe in the name of Jesus. In each of these three situations there is only one way to be saved. Jesus said, “I am the Way, The Truth, and the Light, No one comes to the Father, except by Me.”

A few more.  Romans 5:9, Much more then, having now been justified by his blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of G-d through Him. Romans 10:9, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that G-d raised Him from the dead, You Shall Be Saved.”

Here is to Hoping you get the call.
